What the BLEEP Books
The first BLEEP book, The Little Book of BLEEPS, was self-published in late 2004 as a way to remind viewers of significant moments in the original WTBDWK!?. Filmmaker Betsy Chasse insisted there was a need for such a book, and so she sheparded the process, which eventually resulted in a second printing, and over 80,000 copies sold!
The second BLEEP book, What the BLEEP Do We Know!? - Discovering the Endless Possibilities For Altering Your Everyday Reality was born after HCI book publishers approached the filmmakers at the Santa Monica BLEEP Conference about writing a large four-color book to supplement the movie. Although in the midst of producing Down the Rabbit Hole, the filmmakers realized the opportunity for supplying supporting material that was too bulky to fit into a movie was simply to good to pass up. And so they didn’t.
The book ended up being something of a cross between a coffee table book, a visually stimulating text book, and a fun book of stories. In its second printing, the publishers postponed plans for a paperback version since the book was selling a year later at a steady clip.
