A Conversation with Paul Harrington - Page 2

I listened with a skeptical ear. And the more Rhonda spoke, the more we wanted to look into it. It was a little bit like, “Hey, I know this stuff. I know what you’re talking about. I can’t ever recall hearing it before, but it’s not spooky or psychic. It’s not spiritual. This is just common sense. And there was a quantum physics underpinning to the whole thing - a scientific angle that has some basis in our understanding of reality. That was the thing that really got me on board.

Rhonda Byrne
Betsy - Wasn’t there a book that Rhonda read that triggered her initial interest in this as a topic?

Paul - What actually happened was Rhonda was handed this book at a point in her life when she was particularly depressed and worried about her future in various areas of personal business, relationships and so on. She felt very much crushed under the weight of things. And her daughter gave her a book written by a gentleman by the name of Wallace Wattles, and said, “You should read this. It will help out.”

So Rhonda read it, and that was the starting point that launched her into researching these issues and the various writers who have written essentially about the law of attraction. Wattles’ books were written in the late 19 th century, and the secret itself we traced the knowledge back a lot further than that. It was kind of like the Da Vinci Code the way this message about how people have the capacity to really shape their destiny was passed along, starting from somewhere around 3000 BC onwards.

Betsy - You and Isound like we were in similar places when we began our prospective projects when they came to us. Where do you stand now?

Paul - It’s a funny thing, people I‘ve known from several years back sometimes say things like, “So, you don’t buy this stuff do you?” It’s a very difficult question to answer. Actually, the question is a little bit offensive. Usually the person doesn’t really want to hear the answer. But have I taken this on as my religion? Where am I really? Well, the more I hear, the more I understand, the more I witness, the more I say, “It’s not something to believe. It’s something that just is.”

The evidence sort of speaks for itself. And if people recognize that I’m happier and more content and less inclined to complain and be concerned about the details that are not really in my control or even in my interest - if they observe that, then I guess that’s to say I have taken this on. I do recognize that I am every moment of the day creating my future, so I say it’s less about what I now believe and more about what I recognize as simply what is.

Betsy - When I started researching this stuff for our interviews - I was in charge of reading all the books and organizing the interviews - it all seemed to make complete common sense to me; just pure logic. Next > 1 2 3 4 5 6
