Thoughtful commentaries... occasional rants

by Betsy Chasse

Since the Monday of Hurricane Katrina my thoughts have been with the thousands of people who have suffered such tremendous losses. My own family has been strongly affected because two of my brothers live in New Orleans. One we didn’t hear from for six days and, as it now turns out, he’s stuck in a shelter. We’re still trying to get him a message. My other brother safely evacuated and luckily has a home to return to. But the entire disaster really made me wonder about the notion of “Creating Realty.”

This past week I have been asking myself, “Did all those people really create this disaster for themselves?” In my humanity I realize that I can’t swallow the answer that they did. It just doesn’t seem to feel good. But then the whole movie is about how consciousness affects reality, and I know life really works that way…Click here for more

Hurricane Katrina Relief

To help with the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, What the BLEEP is donating $1 from every item purchase made at the BLEEP Store this month to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.

The Baton Rouge Area Foundation has established two funds designated to benefit those impacted by Hurricane Katrina:

The Hurricane Katrina Displaced Residents Fund
will benefit those individuals evacuated to Baton Rouge from the hurricane impacted areas in Greater New Orleans, who are now unable to return for what maybe an extended period.

The Hurricane Katrina New Orleans Recovery Fund will focus on rebuilding  infrastructure to provide basic human services to residents of these devastated areas.

For those concerned about the welfare of stranded and homeless pets in the wake of Katrina, here are two charitable links:

Quote of the Month

"A full-spectrum approach to human consciousness and behavior means that men and women have available to them a spectrum of knowing -a spectrum that includes, at the very least, the eye of flesh, the eye of mind, and the eye of spirit. "

Peak Oil - Peak Opportunity Peaks Interest
by Cate Montana

A growing number of determined citizens are convinced the worry about Peak Oil and an inevitable energy crisis is a Chicken Little response that only exists because our government and utilities have their heads stuck in the sand, ignoring perfectly viable technologies available to us today.

Charles Bensinger fills up with E10 fuel

One of these determined citizens is Charles Bensigner. Three years ago he didn’t know diddly about renewable fuels...When he discovered how plentiful and available the fuel options were with existing technologies, Bensinger realized Peak Oil was actually another way of saying “peak opportunity.”

A quantum mechanical view of bi-location
by Cate Montana

For decades, the question of why quantum effects apparently break down for classical Newtonian objects (you, me, pencils and Cuisinarts) has been a puzzle for physicists. Particularly vexing has been the question of superposition.

The question physicists ask is, if photons and other quantum particles can be in two places at once, why can’t we?

So far there are several explanations. The popular Copenhagen interpretation says that any measurement or other “observation” by a human collapses the wave function of any given particle’s superposition into one manifested position. We “see” the world through our macroscopic senses every moment.
