Far Out, Man. But is it Quantum Physics?
by Dennis Overbye
Can physics save your soul?
Two years ago, a movie with the unpronounceable title "What the #$!%* Do We Know!?" became an underground new-age phenomenon, raking in $11 million out of midnight screenings and word of mouth, spawning an industry of books, tote bags, clothing, DVD's and "biofield" jewelry.
It purported to argue, based on the insights of modern quantum physics, that reality is just a mental construct that we can rearrange and improve, if we are enlightened or determined enough. Science and spirituality have tied the knot, and the world is your infinitely deformable apple.
This winter an expanded version, "What the Bleep, Down the Rabbit Hole," began to play to audiences who say that the movie confirms what they already thought about the cosmos, some vibe they had that it is a slippery, woo-woo-woo kind of place. The movie just finished a two-month run in New York and is to be shown in May at the Quest for Global Healing Conference, in Ubud, Bali, with luminaries like Walter Cronkite and Desmond Tutu attending.

Demystifying What the Bleep Do We Know
by Hugo Guzman
Have you ever studied quantum physics in a laboratory setting? Me neither. But apparently a lot of folks all over the U.S. are doing what appears to be the next best thing…watching the documentary apply named “What the Bleep Do We Know”.
The controversial film, directed by William Arntz and Betsy Chasse, discusses some basic principles of quantum physics and then tries to somehow relate them to human consciousness and the nature of reality in general. Despite some extremely cheesy and low-budget CGI special effects as well as an extremely juvenile plot line, the film somehow succeeds at entertaining and inspiring most that view it, and has therefore achieved an unexpected level of success in terms of video distribution

What the Bleep Do We Know: Discovering the Endless Possibilities for Altering Your Everyday Reality
by Dawn Brunke
This instantly engaging and continually thought-provoking book is written by the same three authors who created the popular movie of the same name. The idea, by their own admission, was simple: “We trooped around the country interviewing brilliant people so we could get on film what they had to say.” What happened, however, was that many of these brilliant folks had different ideas—“different from some of our notions, different from each other, different from what we were taught in school, different from what was preached in church and different from what we see on the nightly news.” Yeah, that kind of sneaky different that gets us thinking outside the box. The adventure thus came to be to a personal exploration of truth, consciousness, perception, paradigms and, of course, reality itself. Or, as the authors put it, “to decide for ourselves where the truth lies and what to try out in our lives.”

What the Bleep!? Down the Rabbit Hole
by Maitland McDonagh
Misleadingly billed as "the next evolution" of the Bleep experience, this follow-up to WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW (2004), a documentary-fiction hybrid exploring quantum physics, the mind-body connection, and the point at which science and spirituality intersect, is in fact simply a significantly longer version of Mark Vicente, William Arntz and Betsy Chasse's original film.

Mumbo jumbo
by Phil Villarreal
You'd think that, after 35,000 years, a warrior spirit would learn to give an interesting interview.
Not so with Ramtha, the ancient spirit channeled by a woman named JZ Knight and featured in "What the Bleep!?: Down the Rabbit Hole."
Ramtha, grinding the already-tepid film to a halt whenever he and JZ hit the screen, speaks in a droning monotone about how traditional science and religion don't provide the answers we're all looking for. It's all about oneness and knowing we're all interconnected and have the ability to use our minds to shape our worlds.

The voyage down the rabbit hole is fascinating
by William Arnold
The sequel, "What the Bleep!? Down the Rabbit Hole," covers pretty much the same territory in more esoteric depth, with some of the same interviewees and a considerably higher quality of animation and special effects.
It opens with a dynamite piece of animation that takes the form of a '40s newsreel to chronicle the history of the world as a conflict between science and religion, cleverly setting the stage for its contention that quantum physics is in the process of bridging the two.

Making a Killing in Human Potential
by COELI CARR
"What the Bleep Do We Know!?," - a quirky cinematic look at the intersection of science and spirituality - spawned worldwide study groups, a cottage "Bleep" industry and a coterie of fans who have been clamoring for a sequel since the film's release two years ago.
That follow-up, "What the Bleep!? Down the Rabbit Hole," is to open in theaters in New York, California, Arizona, Washington and Oregon next month. The first film drew gross revenues of more than $11 million, not bad for a film with no immediately identifiable audience.

What the Bleep - Down the Rabbit Hole
by Michael Atkinson
Essentially a repackaged, extended director's cut of 2004's minor specialty hit What the Bleep Do We Know!?, this two-hour semi-doc is a living demonstration of the Heisenberg principle —because audiences came and observed, the thing itself evolved. If we're not careful, it may never stop.

What the BLEEP Do We Know!?
THE BOOK: Hundreds of years ago, science and religion split apart; they became antagonists in the great game of explanation and discovery. But science and religion are two sides of the same coin. They both help explain the universe, our place in the great plan and the meaning of our lives. In fact, they can only begin to do that adequately when they work together.

Why the Bleep?
by Trish Riley
The film conceived by three students of a channeled ancient warrior named Ramtha got off to an inauspicious beginning. When traditional movie producers turned their noses up at What the Bleep Do We Know!?, the production was financed by one of its three filmmakers; when mainstream movie houses rejected the final product, it became a blockbuster hit through independent film venues, winning five independent film awards along the way. It's been the subject of much derision from mainstream press and scientists, yet an estimated five million people have seen the film, which had a long run as one of Amazon.com's top sellers.

Cloud Nine - Sleep your way to a better life
by Jessica Centers
Six years ago, Masaru Emoto published Message From Water, which posits that there is an intrinsic vibrational pattern at the atomic level in all matter, and that words influence those vibrations. Using a microscope in a cold room, Emoto photographed newly formed crystals of frozen water. When he presented his samples with loving words -- spoken or written -- they formed complex, colorful snowflake patterns. When the words were negative, the water either didn't crystallize at all or formed dull, incomplete patterns. His water-crystal photos were featured in last year's popular movie/documentary What the Bleep Do We Know!?, which used quantum physics and neurochemistry to tell the story of a woman learning to manifest her own reality. The film grossed over $12 million at the U.S. box office, reaching the third-largest audience ever for a documentary in this country.

Conference explores ideas from bleeping movie
by Jessica Coomes
William Arntz says he created his own reality.
He focused. He obliterated his doubts. And he slid easily from the role of a software writer to his new reality of an independent filmmaker whose first movie gathered such a fan base that its ideas spun off into a conference tour.
The national conference tour wraps up in Scottsdale this weekend and explores the mind-bending ideas of What the BLEEP Do We Know!?, a film that makes a case for people being able to create their own realities.
Tickets for the conference are available at the door, and sessions continue today, Sunday and Monday at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort, 7200 N. Scottsdale Road.
The filmmakers are wrapping up the conferences in the Valley, which is where the movie really got its start.

See how far you can move your hands apart while still being able to feel your energy.
Your capacity to become conscious of the energy flowing through your body is what – bear with me here – a 19-year-old pre-med student thinks can change the face of healing in the western world.

What the Bleep? Categories conflate, confound, connect
by Ron Hogan
With no Hollywood A-list and nary a single car chase, the film What the Bleep Do We Know? became one of the sleeper hits of 2004, as word-of-mouth and strategic marketing kept it in theaters for an entire year. The gross exceeded $10 million—not bad for a low-budget documentary in which a dozen scientists discuss the ramifications of recent discoveries in quantum physics and neuroscience. What the Bleep's success on DVD is even more impressive, with more than one million copies shipped since its March release.

An Interview With Dr. Fred Alan Wolf
What I’m up to these days is kind of a three-pronged attack. The first prong is: what is quantum physics and why should I care? The second prong is: how can I use quantum physics in my life in some way and make sense of it? By three it’s really the spiritual aspect of it. Several scientists and I believe that quantum physics is pointing to a new understanding of spirituality.

WHAT THE #$*! DO WE KNOW?
If you’re at all hip to the metaphysical patter that directors William Arntz, Betsy Chasse and Mark Vicente are putting down in What the #$*! Do We Know?, their quasi-documentary investigation of the spiritual ramifications of quantum physics, you’ll be surprised that many of the people whose opinions they solicit are neither physicists nor theologians by vocation. I guess this even constitutes a spoiler of sorts, since you don’t know until the end who you’ve been listening to for close to two hours, but it turns out that many of the talking heads in What the #$*!? come from medical backgrounds. Having probed the mysteries of the body, they’ve moved on to ponder how the mind and body work together and how the functioning of 5 billion some-odd bodies and minds constitutes reality.

What the Bleep Do We Know!? wants you to think - about everything
by Brad Simkulet
What would it do to your conception of reality to know that you’ve never actually "touched" anything? Well, you haven’t.
What you’ve felt is the repulsion of particles that interact with each other by creating a barrier between you and the world around you. So when you touch your child’s skin you’re not actually feeling it, you’re feeling a mass of subatomic particles being repulsed by another mass of subatomic particles.
And even when your body has been pierced – from a nail in the foot, a knife in the gut or a needle stitching a cut – you’re experiencing a mass of subatomic particles pushing another mass of subatomic particles aside, thus forcing themselves "into" your skin, organs or blood, without you ever being "touched."
This is just one of the paradigm shifts that What the Bleep Do We Know!? bombards us with in its fascinating exploration of quantum physics and the subatomic world’s omnipresent influence on every aspect of our lives.

"Complex and subtle, the ramifications of quantum physics are still known only to those with some knowledge of modern science. "Bleep" seeks to explore those ramifications, toss in a few more about cellular life and then draw conclusions about what all this means to personal behavior and--get ready--our notions of God."
