SCOTTSDALE - William Arntz says he created his own reality.

He focused. He obliterated his doubts. And he slid easily from the role of a software writer to his new reality of an independent filmmaker whose first movie gathered such a fan base that its ideas spun off into a conference tour.

The national conference tour wraps up in Scottsdale this weekend and explores the mind-bending ideas of What the BLEEP Do We Know!?, a film that makes a case for people being able to create their own realities.

Tickets for the conference are available at the door, and sessions continue today, Sunday and Monday at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort, 7200 N. Scottsdale Road.

The filmmakers are wrapping up the conferences in the Valley, which is where the movie really got its start.

Arntz credits What the BLEEP's success in part to the exposure it received while it played for about a year at the Valley Art theater in Tempe.

If nothing else, the movie, a documentary and drama rolled into one, is designed to get people talking about the ideas it presents. Those ideas will be discussed at the conference, which has almost 600 people registered, and also in a book of the same name that's being pre-released at the conference this weekend.

The information is dense, Arntz said, because the movie was designed assuming the viewers were smart.

"You take this information, wrestle with it, think about it, meditate with it, throw it out, never think about it again," said the 55-year-old Arntz, who's from Washington state. "We want the viewers to have their own experience."

The documentary snippets of the movie feature 14 scientists and spirituality experts, who are in Scottsdale for the conference. That includes Stuart Hameroff, a University of Arizona professor from Tucson, one of the scientists in the movie.

Also, the Starz network will be showing the movie in November, Arntz said, and the network will be at the conference to film a TV special.
