If you haven’t seen the movie What the Bleep Do We Know!?, you really ought to, as it is truly a life changing experience. It’s an in-depth yet simple explanation of the spiritual concept of conscious creation.

Conscious creation, the idea that we are each creators who are responsible for our life experiences, has been the main lesson taught by Spiritual masters for centuries. Conscious creation says that what we focus on through our thoughts, beliefs, expectations and behaviors is manifested in our lives. The movie, What the Bleep Do We Know!? proves this point by artfully combining fiction, Spirituality, Quantum Physics, biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Psychology and medicine.

What the Bleep Do We Know!? takes us on a journey meant to explain how what we choose to think (whether positive or negative), the beliefs we hold about ourselves and our place in the world, as well as our behaviors, set up a chain of reactions at the cellular and atomic level that manifest as the experiences of our lives. Themovie proves that whether we are conscious or unconscious of the process, we are creators constantly creating the experiences of our lives. What the Bleep Do We Know!? gives us a simple, layman’s explanation of a basic spiritual truth.

Recently, I had the honor of speaking to Betsy Chasse, producer of What the Bleep Do We Know!? I asked her about her experiences with conscious creation.

Betsy told me that before What the Bleep Do We Know!? came into her life, and before becoming conscious of herself as a creator, she was living in Los Angeles and had a successful career as a film producer. At the time, she was making great money and enjoyed all of the trappings of success. Betsy was living in what she called her “shoe consciousness” which meant that her focus was on what type of shoes she was wearing and what type of car she was driving. She was living the typical life of a Hollywood producer, which reflected status, success and achievement, at least externally. But, as Betsy told me, there came a point when the trappings of success and this type of life style were no longer fulfilling. At that point, she quit her job and left Hollywood behind. Her peers thought she was nuts, but she had to do it. She knew that there had to be something else; there had to be a more fulfilling way to live.

Betsy looked for fulfillment in her next career—that of a business owner making and selling gourmet dog biscuits. Even though the business started out successfully, it didn’t work out and Betsy eventually found herself facing bankruptcy.

“There’s nothing like realizing you’re spiritual when you start going bankrupt,” Betsy said. “When, all of a sudden, all of the possessions you thought were your life, like your car, are suddenly being taken from you, you start to reevaluate. There came a point when the only possessions I had left were my shoes.

“At that point I took a needed time out and began consciously looking at myself. I started with some questions like, What am I doing? Why am I here? Where am I going? What does this all mean? What is life about? What is the purpose of life? I started to really examine those questions.

“At the time, I didn’t know that I was beginning a spiritual endeavor. I wasn’t really a religious person. The whole idea that there was one God up there and that he was judging me day and night and that there is a devil in hell didn’t work for me. But, on the flip side, staring into crystals and all of that stuff didn’t work for me either.

“As I began to ask questions, I also began to make a list of what I wanted in my life. I started to get really clear on my desires. I didn’t have anything to do during the day. I wasn’t working, nor was I looking for work, so I just kept focusing on these questions and on my list. It wasn’t too long before Mark Vicente (Director of Photography for What the Bleep Do We Know!?) called me about a script that he wanted me to review.

“The script, which became What the Bleep Do We Know!? was a teeny, tiny documentary. I told Mark that I couldn’t afford to make a teeny, tiny documentary. “If I’m going to do a movie,” Betsy said to Mark, “I’m going to do one that pays my fee and gets me out of debt.”

She told me that she had another offer at the time which would take her to Puerto Vallarta for four months and pay her enough money to get her completely out of debt. But, Mark wouldn’t let her off of the hook and finally convinced her to at least take a look at the script.

“Mark brought the script to me,” Betsy continued, “and asked me to just read it. So, I began to read and I was stunned. This teeny, tiny script was answering all of the questions I’d been asking for the past thirty days. Talk about conscious creation! I created the answers by sitting down and literally focusing on these questions day in and day out for about a month. This script answered all of my questions. I got exactly what I wanted to know handed to me. I called Mark and told him that I would do this movie.

“I figured that it wasn’t going to get me out of debt. I thought that I’d probably end up in more debt. But, it was OK with me. This movie had to be made. I originally came on board as the producer, but eventually, I also became a writer and a director.

“Remember, just before What the Bleep Do We Know!? came to me, I was making a list of what I wanted in my life, and on it, I wrote that if I was going to make a movie I wanted to make a movie that would impact humanity. I wanted answers and I wanted to share those answers with others so that they wouldn’t have to suffer the way I was suffering. And then this movie came to me.

“Looking back, I can see how I really did create my reality.”

Betsy continued, “The other thing I wrote down at that time was that I wanted a loving partnership. I wanted to find someone who was my equal, someone who would be my partner in life and grow with me. Within two days of coming to Washington to meet with William Arntz (Producer, Director, Screenwriter of What the Bleep Do We Know!?) I met my husband.”

And the rest is history. Betsy is happily married, with a beautiful six-month-old daughter and a successful movie. She’s looking forward to assisting in a program, which will teach spiritual, conscious creation concepts to children and perhaps, will even be developing a school.

Betsy’s final comment to me was, “I put the concepts in this movie to a practical test and it worked for me.”

The moral of this story and the lesson of conscious creation is: be clear about your intention and your focus and you will manifest whatever it is that you want to manifest.

Whether conscious or unconscious, we are creators. We create the experiences of our lives through our intention, our focus, and the choices we make about what we think, what we believe, what we expect to experience and how we behave.
