// WHAT THE BLEEP?
The boundary-breaking film What the Bleep do we Know!? that made US$12 million in the USA and created a cultural phenomenon with study-groups, a best selling book and internet forums galore, has come to Australia, and is now playing at Luna Cinemas Leederville.

What the Bleep do we Know!?, a film that melds science and spirituality, made $40.775 over the weekend on just five screens making it number one in the cinemas it played in.

Incredibly, What the Bleep do we Know!? has been released on a plan that breaks from traditional release campaigns with very limited advertising, no reviews and no publicity but rather backed by a heavily targeted marketing campaign using the internet and email networks that have created huge positive word of mouth.

What the Bleep do we Know!? had the highest screen average in the entire country, with $8,155, beating other week one heavyweights like The Interpreter ($7647), Amityville Horror ($7,032) and Hostage ($4,993).

In a joint statement, Troy Lum of Hopscotch and Richard Sheffield of Polyphony, co-distributors said: “It just shows that there are audiences out there who want to see films that inspire as well as entertain.

“We knew, based on its huge box office in the US and the numbers of inquiries we were receiving, that WHAT THE BLEEP was a must-see film for many Australians. This film breaks the traditional mould of what people want to see on the big screen. It is a terrific opening result for the film and one that we hope to build on.”

Due to demand, WHAT THE BLEEP will expand to Luna SX Fremantle from May 5 to coincide with the arrival of the co-director Mark Vincente in Australia.

Co-director, screenwriter and cinematographer Mark Vincente will be at Luna Cinemas on Wednesday May 4 for an exclusive special Talking Pictures Q&A session following the screening of his film at 6.30pm.

Tickets for this special screening are on sale now for $14.00 an adult or $9.50 concession.
